Fireworks Expected in Flag City

By: Clayton Skulina

Combat sports action returns to Findlay, Ohio, this weekend at the Cube Entertainment Complex, where Ruthless Made Promotions is putting on a one-of-a-kind show with five amateur kickboxing bouts serving as the prelim action while the main card features four professional boxing fights. The card is headlined by Kevin Walker (1-3-1), a 34-year-old southpaw from Cleveland taking on Martin Tucker (9-10), a grizzled 45-year-old veteran from Toledo, Ohio, in the 130lb division (catch Carnage Media’s interview with them here).

The rest of the main card features several local standouts, including former UFC middleweight Dylan Budka (8-5 MMA), making his professional boxing debut against JD McNett (0-0) in the light heavyweight division (175lbs). Budka, training at Demolition Fight Team in Findlay, is currently working on a transition to the welterweight division. He has stated that he intends to use this bout to test how his body will handle the cut down to the 170-pound welterweight limit.

McNett, 23, takes this fight on just one day’s notice after Budka’s original two opponents, Martinez Stevenson and Sherman Williams, backed out. McNett, fighting out of Bowling Green with Garcia MMA, recently announced he would be turning professional after winning his second amateur MMA title in April. The co-main event features Marcelino Rangel (1-2) and Logan Reynolds (0-0) in the 115lb division.

The prelims kick off with Abe Farhan (1-3 MMA) taking on Seth Peoples (2-4 MMA) in the heavyweight division. Rayshawn Walls (1-1 MMA) battles James Gibson (4-5 MMA) at 170lbs, followed by Austin Roberts (1-3 MMA) and Kaiden Hastings (3-4 MMA, 1-0 kickboxing) at 155lbs. A middleweight bout between Josh Frazier (1-1 MMA) and Jay Bashaw (Debut) leads us into our featured prelim, with Demolition Fight Team’s Bryson Jones (2-0 MMA) and Garcia MMA’s Ryan Coronel (2-0 MMA).

Clayton’s Picks of the Weekend:

In this segment, I’ll be picking the fights and fighters from the prelims and main card that I think will stand out and fans should keep a close eye on.

  • Fight of the Night (Main Card) – Kevin Walker vs Martin Tucker.
    • It feels almost like a cop out to choose the main event, but when two guys don’t like each other as much as these two, it makes for an action packed combination. Both fighters, representing two great fighting cities in the state of Ohio, are aiming to prove that their roots are superior, which should make for an action packed, fan friendly bout.
  • Fight of the Night (Prelims) – Bryson Jones vs Ryan Coronel
    • Again, this truly feels like a cop out choice, but looking at these two fighters, it’s a great choice. Both fighters have knockout power, with each having wins by KO on the MMA side. Combine that with two great camps and crazy athleticism, this bout should bring fireworks to Flag City.
  • Performance of the Night (Main Card) – Dylan Budka
    • I’m very intrigued to see what “The Mindless Hulk” can do in a new sport at a new weight in a new combat sport. The UFC veteran is coming off a win at American Fight Promotions 102 in May, and is looking to use his new approaches to his diet and lifestyle to earn his first professional victory in the ring.
  • Performance of the Night (Prelims) – Kaiden Hastings
    • Click here for his first fight against Shawn Freeman in December 2024. Hastings has a stand up style of fighting, using his reach and long frame to pick opponents apart. Add the fact that he’s coming off of a headkick KO at ECC Cagefighting in Kentucky, I’m expecting a ton of action from the young prospect.
